Lakeland is nicknamed the Swan City for the many swans that inhabit Lake Morton, a small lake near Lakeland’s downtown. Swans can be found on street signs, as monuments seen around town, and on nearly every historic district home as part of the address number. Although the swans are very charming as you walk or drive around Lake Morton, the story of how they got to Lakeland is even more intriguing!
